Exhibitions
River Terrace Gallery, New York
The exhibition consisted of a series of oil paintings and photo collages that evoke the nature of recollection and the re-creation of faded memories associated with the passage of time and age. An intimate exploration of memories, to see the mind as a fragile container that is mysterious, magical and malleable. As faces, spaces, and events distort and reshape, our interpretation of what the past entailed or meant continues to evolve.
The exhibition featured feature a series of special events co-curated by Domaine Somm. The events included thematic environmental elements and a unique selection of wine pairings designed to heighten your senses and create a deeper connection to the Kasra's works.
Blackout Dreams @ Charles Gallery, New York
"Memory is never a precise duplicate of the original… it is a constant act of re-creation” -
Blackout Dreams explore the subjectivity of the mind, as the container of memories. The exhibition consists of a series of oil paintings and photo collages that evoke the nature of recollection and the re-creation of faded memories associated with the passage of time and age.
Faces, spaces and events deform and reshape into our interpretation of what the past moment entailed. Subjects retain their most distinctive features, while the rest becomes an abstract interpretation of the bygone reality. Recollections become less photographic and more abstract and accentuated as they fall further into our past.
To depict this phenomenon, Kasra uses a mono-printing technique as a tool, in order to allow the photographic reality to morph into the subjective, surreal imprints lingering in the mind. This imperfect depiction leaves the observer to fill in the blanks with their own imagination and emotional state.
