Born in 1981, Kasra grew up in Tehran and London and now lives and works in New York. He is a photographer and painter primarily working with oil, acrylic and mono-printing on glass and paper.
Kasra started exploring free hand sketching from early ages. In 2006, during his Masters at Politecnico di Design in Milan he received formal sketching training and applied it to designing furniture and objects for companies like Thonet and Artemide.
Kasra relocated to Boston in 2010, where he studied his second Masters in Product Design and attended several drawing workshops during which he started exploring oil color. He held his first solo exhibition of artwork at MIT in 2011.
Inspired by the works of figurative expressionists like Gustav Klimt and Egon Schiele, in his paintings he uses bold textures and patterns to create intimate and whimsical instances.
